Q: Are Volunteers Trained?
A: Yes. All King's Team Camp volunteers are required to attend a day of training. The training includes information about abuse and what types of things many of these kids have experienced. This also includes techniques to deal with teens and teen-life issues.
Mandatory training for all volunteers will be at Southeast Christian Church.
Q: Where is camp?
A: Camp is held in Colorado. It is approx. a two hour drive from Southeast Christian Church. We keep the exact location confidential with our participants.
Q: Who are the Camp Volunteers?
A: All King's Team Camp Volunteers are interviewed and must agree to be fingerprinted to have a background check done through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation before being accepted to attend camp.
All Volunteers at the Host camp facility also complete these requirements.
Q: What is King’s Team Camp and who does it serve?
A: At King’s Team Camp, we are dedicated to changing the trajectory of young lives through our transformative summer camp experience. Our mission is to empower youth aged 13-16—who have faced severe abuse, neglect, and the challenges of foster care—to overcome adversity and build a brighter future. We provide a week-long, overnight camp experience that offers adventure, connection and tools for a bright future. Central to our work is the belief that with God’s guidance, every life can be transformed.
Q: Who is eligible to attend the camp?
A: Youth between the ages of 13 and 16 who have spent at least one night in foster care or kinship care are eligible to participate in our summer camp. Youth do not need to be in foster care at the time of camp and their living arrangements can vary.
Q: How do campers apply for the program?
A: To apply for King’s Team Camp, simply follow these steps:
-
Complete the Application Form: Fill out the online application with the required information, including your camper’s details and any specific preferences or needs. The form helps us get to know each camper so we can provide the best possible experience.
-
Submit Required Documents: Along with the application form, you may need to submit additional documents, such as medical forms, emergency contact information, medication forms, and any relevant consent forms. These are crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers.
-
Camper Interview: After you submit your application, we will review it and send a confirmation email with additional details on scheduling an interview. The interview will be conducted with our King’s Team Leadership Team and will include questions for both the camper and caregiver. If there are any questions or further steps needed, our team will contact you directly.
-
Pay the Registration Fee: After the interview and acceptance to camp, you will be directed to pay the camp fee directly on our website. Some campers may be eligible for scholarships or financial assistance, so feel free to inquire about that if needed.
-
Prepare for Camp: Once your acceptance to camp is confirmed, you can begin gathering the items on the packing list to make sure you have everything needed for a smooth and enjoyable summer camp experience.
If you have any questions during the application process, feel free to contact us at KingsTeamCamp@gmail.com or Camp Director Cara Polonsky at 720.327.1910. We look forward to welcoming your camper to this life-changing experience!

Q: What types of activities and adventures are offered at camp?
A: At King’s Team Camp, every day is an opportunity for campers to step into the beauty of God’s creation and experience adventure in the great outdoors. Our days are packed with activities, meal time, team building, rest and Bible study. Campers will have the opportunity to experience activities such as archery, rappelling, crafts, giant swing, fishing, horseback riding and much more!
Q: How does King’s Team Camp support the unique needs of foster youth?
A: Our camp volunteers receive trauma training to better equip them in meeting the needs of youth who have experienced abuse or neglect. In addition, we have two experienced social workers on staff who specialize in the unique needs of foster youth. They are well-versed in child abuse and trauma-informed care, and are available onsite daily to support both campers and volunteers, at any time, day or night.
Q: What safety measures and support systems are in place during camp?
A: Safety of your teen is our number one priority. We understand the need for our campers to feel safe with the adults who are caring for them during their week at camp. As an added safety measure, we take pride in our 2:1 camper-to-volunteer ratio, ensuring that no child is ever left alone. In addition, there is always another adult present to observe interactions, prioritizing the safety and well-being of every camper. During the week, we are diligent to hold all campers and volunteers to high standards and report any inappropriate behavior.

Q: What is the registration fee and what does it cover?
A: Thanks to the generous contributions from our sponsors, donors and volunteers, King’s Team Camp is available to each camper for a nominal fee of $50. This fee covers lodging, activities, and food for the entire week at our summer camp location in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. In addition to the fee, campers are responsible for providing the items identified on the packing list.
Q: How is the camp funded and supported financially?
A: King’s Team Camp thrives each year thanks to a community effort that goes beyond simple generosity. It operates on a unique model where every facet of the experience is driven by volunteers, supporters, and donors. Not a single paid staff member is involved in its day-to-day operations—everyone who contributes does so out of pure dedication and a shared commitment to the camp's mission.
Volunteers donate their time, energy, and expertise to run activities, manage logistics, and offer their talents to enrich the lives of campers. These passionate individuals ensure the camp experience remains vibrant, welcoming, and meaningful, season after season.
Community donors also play an integral role in the camp’s survival, offering financial contributions to cover expenses and support long-term sustainability. Through fundraising efforts, the camp continues to thrive—whether through events, donations, or sponsorships, each effort is a reflection of the community’s dedication.
This model of collaboration is what makes the camp so special. It is a labor of love, where no one is compensated, but everyone feels the reward of knowing they’ve contributed to creating an experience that is cherished year after year.
The unwavering support of volunteers, donors, and the community at large ensures that this camp will continue to be available for future generations to enjoy.

Q: How does participation in the camp help shift life trajectories?
A: Attending summer camp can be a powerful experience for foster youth, helping shift the trajectory of their lives in profound ways. At camp, youth are given the opportunity to step outside of their everyday challenges and engage in activities that build confidence, encourage personal growth, and foster a deeper sense of hope for the future.
Building Confidence and Taking Risks: Through hands-on activities like mountain climbing, zip-lining, and axe throwing, campers are encouraged to push their limits, take risks, and discover their inner strength. Each new challenge they overcome builds their confidence, empowering them to face life’s obstacles with courage and resilience.
Building Connections with Others: Camp provides a safe and supportive community where foster youth can bond with peers who share similar experiences. This sense of belonging helps them form meaningful relationships, heal from past trauma, and learn to trust and support others.
Learning About God's Unwavering Love: A key aspect of camp is helping youth understand the depth of God’s love for them. Through spiritual guidance, prayer, and devotionals, campers experience firsthand the unwavering support of a loving God, reminding them they are never alone and that their lives have purpose.
Learning New Skills: Camp also provides valuable opportunities for foster youth to develop new skills—whether it’s fishing, horseback riding, or working as a team during group challenges. These experiences not only equip them with practical skills but also teach them the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and the joy of discovering something new.
Experiencing the Outdoors: Being immersed in nature offers foster youth the chance to step away from the noise and stresses of daily life, allowing them to connect with the beauty of God’s creation. Whether it’s hiking through the woods, stargazing by the campfire, or simply breathing in the fresh air, the outdoors serves as a reminder of the peace and renewal that can come from stepping into God’s world.
Overall, attending camp provides foster youth with a transformative experience that nurtures their spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being. It helps them see that no matter their past, they are capable of creating a future filled with hope, new possibilities, and a deeper connection to God’s love
Q: Can I contact my camper throughout the week?
A: Our summer camp is located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where there is no cell phone or internet service. In the event of an emergency, we do have a landline available for contact. During the camp session, there will be one day when we hike to the top of a mountain, where we’ll have cell phone reception. This will be the only opportunity for campers to use their phones during camp. On this hike, campers can take photos and contact their family and friends. After the hike, all phones will be securely stored until the end of camp.
